Call For 15-minute Play Submissions For The First-ever “Bar Food... - 2018-02-20
Call for 15-minute play submissions for the first-ever “Bar Food Public Play Reading” to benefit Connor’s Cure for pediatric cancer research, April 14th at 2:30 p.m. at the Irving Inn Social in Rahway, NJ
Why are we doing this? I am a local playwright who is running the New York City Marathon this November to raise money for pediatric cancer research, through the partnering organizations of Connor’s Cure and the V-Foundation. One exciting way that I’d like to raise money is by presenting The Bar Food Public Play Reading, a one-day play reading of original 15-minute plays.
What are the submission guidelines? Playwrights are invited to submit their best 15-minute play. Comedies and dramas are both welcome, but remember it’s a bar, so let’s have some fun. In order to submit, playwrights are required to first give a donation of $10 or more to the V-Foundation, to benefit Connor’s Cure, at www.crowdrise.com/michaelburdick4. Plays must contain four characters or less and possess a solid beginning, middle and end.
If your play meets all above criteria, submit it to email@example.com for consideration. (Perspective plays must be submitted for consideration no later than MARCH 10TH AT 10:00 P.M.) (The six plays will be announced on MARCH 15TH.) (Though we’d love to include more, only these six selected plays will receive a reading.)
How will The Bar Food Public Play Reading be presented? The best six plays submitted will be read in The Bar Food Public Play Reading, APRIL 14TH at 2:30 p.m. (Doors open at 2:00 p.m.) The Bar Food Public Play Reading will take place at Irving Inn Social in Rahway, N.J. and all are welcome. The cost of admission will be a recommended donation of $10 dollars or more. (Playwrights whose work is being performed are exempt from any donation after earlier submission.) Drinks will be available for purchase at the bar and there will be in a 50/50 charity raffle.
The first act will feature a reading of the best selected six plays by our talented group of in-house actors. From those six plays, a three-judge panel will determine the top play. That play will be deemed THE BEST PLAY AMONG BAR FOOD PLAYWRITING AWARD.
The second act will feature a reading of my own one-act “Trash.” Because this is a play that I wrote, “Trash” is being read for entertainment purposes only and will not eligible for The Best Among Bar Food Playwriting Award.
We can’t wait to read your plays! Best of luck!
